DesignIce A Sustainable Company

We continuously looking to improve our global impact, we welcome feedback from our customers, past, current, and future to develop a product we are all proud of.

For as long as we can remember, the practice of harvesting ice and snow has existed. Due to the scarcity of clean water, DesignIce has remained true to traditional methods since 2004 by harvesting fresh water from self-sufficient lakes in Østfold, instead of relying on our regular water supply.

The Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) has examined and assessed the life cycle of our products and production systems according to environmental and resource impact. The results of our LCA report in short: The product is harvested directly from where nature itself has both cooled and filtered the water. The product recycles itself and returns to its natural shape. Everything is stored and processed a short distance from the lake. Our ice farm is a top-notch facility with energy-efficient cooling systems mostly run by pure solar energy or renewable energy mix from Norway. The climate footprint is therefore minimal when we deliver our products.

Natural, pure ice and snow are produced using renewable energy and eco-friendly practices. Would you like to receive our LCA-report and/or if you have suggestions on how we can improve , please Contact Us

The following graphs present and interpret the results from the impact assessment of our LCA from NIBIO. The charts allow us to visualize the climate impact of Harvesting Ice versus Manufacturing Ice.
